Bank , Ltd. is a regional bank with its head office in Wakayama City, Wakayama Prefecture. It is the only bank with its main branch in Wakayama Prefecture, and is a designated financial institution in Wakayama Prefecture and Wakayama City.
overview
Kiyo Bank is positioned as a bank that plays the core of regional finance, mainly in Wakayama Prefecture, and is actively expanding to Osaka Prefecture. In terms of corporate main bank share, it boasts an overwhelming presence within Wakayama Prefecture, with the company's main bank share in the prefecture reaching 63.8% (as of 2022). It also expanded into Osaka Prefecture, and has a high share as a regional bank in the southern part of the prefecture.
history
On October 10, 2006, Kiyo Bank merged with Wakayama Bank, the second regional bank, which also owned its head office in Wakayama Prefecture. This has made it the only bank with its head office in Wakayama Prefecture. Furthermore, on October 1, 2013, it absorbed its holding company, Kiyo Holdings, and was technically listed and relisted on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
Business development
Kiyo Bank positioned not only Wakayama Prefecture but Osaka Prefecture as its "local area," and began expanding into Osaka Prefecture in 1950. As of October 2022, there are 41 stores in Osaka Prefecture, and the company's main bank share is also expanding. In terms of the region-specific composition of loans, Osaka Prefecture has 54% and Wakayama Prefecture has 36%, exceeding Wakayama Prefecture.
In addition, as we are working to improve our branch network within Osaka Prefecture, Sakai Branch (Sakai City), in particular, is known as a building designed by famous architect Ando Tadao, and is working to strengthen our operations within Osaka Prefecture, including establishing a sales promotion headquarters within the Kiyo Sakai Building. In the future, the company plans to expand the number of stores in Osaka Prefecture to the same size as in Wakayama Prefecture.
Management policy and outlook
Kiyo Bank began its 7th medium-term management plan in April 2024 (Reiwa 6), and its basic policy is to "co-create value with local regions by exerting its function as a regional financial leader group." The company is particularly focused on dealing with small and medium-sized enterprises, and aims to create a business model that supports the revitalization of the local economy.
In recent years, while the socioeconomic normalization has progressed, issues such as a weak yen, a strong resource, and a labor shortage have continued, and the business environment for financial institutions is also changing. With the Bank of Japan's negative interest rate policy lifted in 2024 and the financial industry as a whole shift toward a "world with interest rates," Kiyo Bank is implementing a strategy that addresses this.
Management philosophy
Kiyo Bank's management philosophy is to "contribute to the prosperity of the local community and walk with the local community," and its mission is to contribute to the development of the local economy. We also value our relationships with our customers and local communities, and strive to improve our corporate value by promoting sustainable management.
