Saitama Resona Bank was established in 2002 as a subsidiary of Yamato Bank Holdings (now Resona Holdings) and began operations in the form of inheriting the former Asahi Bank stores in Saitama Prefecture and some stores in Tokyo. It has taken over the management foundation of the former Saitama Bank, and its share of deposits and loans within Saitama Prefecture surpasses three megabanks. The number of individual accounts reached approximately 4.5 million, and is said to be used by approximately 60% of the prefecture's residents.
