Digital Agency

The Digital Agency is one of Japan's administrative agencies and was established to promote efforts to create a digital society. It was established on September 1, 2021, and in cooperation with the Cabinet Secretariat, it is rapidly and effectively promoting the administrative affairs necessary to realize a digital society.

The Digital Agency is not subject to the National Administrative Organization Act, and matters relating to its establishment and operations are based on the Digital Agency Establishment Act. As the commander of the formation of a digital society, we are actively promoting the government's digital transformation (DX) and promoting the development of public and private infrastructure. Its mission is to "digitize people-friendly and not leave anyone behind," and strives to provide services that emphasize easy-to-use design and user perspectives.

Furthermore, the Digital Agency aims to achieve system commonality and overall optimization, with the assumption that it is shared with administrative agencies and local governments, and is optimized as a trinity of systems, operations, and systems. It also manages the Local Government Information Systems Organization, together with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, and is responsible for strengthening the issuance and management system of My Number cards.
