About Yokohama Bank Co., Ltd.
Yokohama Bank , Ltd. is a Japanese regional bank with its head office in Minato Mirai, Nishi-ku, Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture. It is under the umbrella of Concordia Financial Group and mainly operates in Kanagawa Prefecture and Machida City, Tokyo. It is Japan's largest regional bank in terms of total assets and has remained the top position among regional banks for many years.
overview
Yokohama Bank is a designated financial institution for Kanagawa Prefecture and many municipalities in the prefecture, including Yokohama City, Kawasaki City, Sagamihara City, and Yokosuka City. In addition, in the western part of the prefecture, it is entrusted with designated financial institution operations through a rotating system with Suruga Bank and local credit unions. In Tokyo, it operates many stores in areas adjacent to Kanagawa Prefecture, particularly within the 23 wards and Machida City, and in Machida City, it serves as a designated financial institution along with Kiraboshi Bank. Furthermore, it also has branches in Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture, Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture, and Gunma Prefecture due to the historic raw silk trade.
History
Yokohama Bank has continued its management cautiously taking into account the economic situation after the collapse of the bubble economy, but since 2005 (Heisei 17), it has been promoting branch offices and opening new stores in Tokyo, actively expanding its business. In recent years, we have been working to improve the benefits of mini stores dedicated to individual transactions with four to five employees, as well as by turning contract employees into full-time employees.
In November 2014, the company announced its business integration with the Second Regional Bank, East Japan Bank, and in April 2016, the Concordia Financial Group was established. This makes the group's total assets the largest of the domestic regional banks.
In 2023 (Reiwa 5), a tender offer (TOB) was carried out against Kanagawa Bank, which is based in Kanagawa Prefecture, and it was completed as a wholly owned subsidiary on June 29th of the same year. As a result, Kanagawa Prefecture has become the only "per prefecture, one group system" in the Kanto region.
Main Store Building
The main building was completed in 1993 (Heisei 5) in the Minato Mirai area of Yokohama and boasts a height of approximately 150 meters. This is the tallest bank's main building in Japan. The former main store annex (Daiichi Bank Yokohama Branch) was designated as a historic building in Yokohama City, and was relocated using the tow house construction method, and is now used as a low-rise part of Yokohama Island Tower.
Business Strategy
Yokohama Bank has set three basic themes in its medium-term management plan: "growth," "change," and "sustainability."
We are promoting deepening and expanding our Growth For individuals, we are implementing financial services that suit their life stages, and implementing strategic investments and partnerships that utilize deregulation.
With the aim of transforming into a Change To promote digital transformation (DX), the company has introduced the smartphone app "Hamagin 365" for individuals and digital consulting for businesses, supporting business efficiency.Sustainability:
