DIAGEO Japan Inc.

Diageo Japan Co., Ltd. is the Japanese subsidiary of Diageo plc, a major British sake brewery company, and is a company that imports and sells high-quality Western liquor brands. It was established in 1998 as the Guinness Japan Representative Office, and later changed its name to "Diagio Japan" in 2002. Corporate registration was completed in 2004.

History

• 1998 : Established as Guinness's Japan Representative Office, developing Guinness's marketing and sales strategy.
• 2002 : The company name was changed to "Diagio Japan Co., Ltd.".
• 2003 : Started selling Sminov ice cream.
• 2004 : Corporate registration completed.
• April 2009 : Established a joint venture company called "Kirin Diageo Co., Ltd." with Kirin Beer.
• May 2009 : Dissolved sales cooperation with Sapporo Beer.
• June 2009 : Sellers such as Guinness, Smirnoff, Johnnie Walker, Whitehorse, IW Harper, Baileys gradually switched to Giraffe.
• April 2021 : The joint venture with Kirin has been resolved and the brands we carry have been transferred to Diageo Japan. Kirin Diageo has changed its name to "Diageo Japan Administration Services Co., Ltd.".
• As of 2024 : Business partnerships with Kirin and import agency for some products are continuing.

Sales and distribution

Diageo Japan has collaborated with a wide range of domestic business partners to distribute its products. It used to be in partnership with Sapporo Beer, Kirin Beer, sake sales, Mercian, Leadoff Japan, Meijiya, and other companies. Business alliances and import agency are still being continued for some brands.
