Joyo Bank is entrusted with designated financial institutions in Ibaraki Prefecture, and is the largest bank with its head office in the three prefectures of North Kanto region, in terms of national and prefecture share of deposit and loan balances and the number of main banks. The line name comes from the letter "jo" in the former Hitachi country, which occupies the entire Ibaraki prefecture of the two former countries (Hitachi and Shimsa), which make up Ibaraki prefecture, with the word "yo" added, which means "bright." Joyo is also a different name for Hitachi. Kameyama Jin, the first president, is his godfather.
history
On October 1, 2016, Joyo Bank merged with Ashikaga Holdings, the financial holding company of Ashikaga Bank, and the new "Mebuki Financial Group" was established. As a result, Joyo Bank and Ashikaga Bank strengthened their cooperation within the group, creating a banking group that is the third largest in the regional bank, behind Concordia Financial Group and Fukuoka Financial Group.
Joyo Bank is also known as the first bank in Japan to introduce educational loans in 1974 (Showa 49). In 2008 (Heisei 20), Joyo Securities Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned securities subsidiary, was established, and is working to diversify financial services.
